Terms of reference

The role of each of the Professional Conduct Committees is to:

• investigate and report to the Bar Council in respect of conduct complaints referred to the Council or initiated by the Council, in accordance with the Legal Profession Act 2004
  
  
• investigate and report to the Bar Council in respect of show cause events, in accordance with the LPA 2004
  
  
• report to the Bar Council on applications made to the Legal Profession Admission Board for admission or readmission and applications for an early declaration as to fitness under s. 26 of the LPA 2004
  
  
• facilitate the mediation of consumer disputes
  
  
• provide advice and policy support to the Bar Council in respect of the administration and operation of the LPA 2004
  
  
• facilitate the provision of guidance to members on ethical issues (senior counsel members of the PCCs)
