The Australian Government has established the Unlawful Termination Assistance Scheme (UTAS) and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme (ADRAS) as part of the introduction of the WorkChoices legislation.
The intention of the Unlawful Termination Assistance Scheme is to afford workers who may have been unlawfully dismissed with financial assistance of up to $4,000 to obtain legal advice. The Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme will grant a maximum amount of $1,500 to access alternative dispute resolution services.
